Judith “Judy” Costa, 81, of Viera, Florida, a former Worcester resident passed away with her devoted partner of 48 years gathered at her side on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. 

Judy was born in Worcester, May 6, 1941, a daughter of Frank and Helen (Ratchford) Costa. Raised in Worcester, Judy graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, began her employment with Draper Labs, a division of MIT, and then accepted a position in Florida with Honeywell Corporation where she worked for 35 years before retiring.  

Judy is survived by her partner and soulmate of over 48 years, Ginny McCauley; her sister and best friend, Mary Jane Simoncini and her husband Ken of Worcester; her nieces and nephews, David Samberg and his wife Lori of Warwick, NY, Jennifer Samberg, Kenny Simoncini and his wife Maureen all of Worcester, Tara Simoncini of Greensboro, NC, Sue Ouellet and her husband Joe of Wales, MA., Denise Senosk and Peter Bard both of Brookfield, Michelle Dahart and her husband Russell of North Brookfield; numerous great nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends here and in Florida.   Judy was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Anne Bard and her husband Peter Bard and a brother-in-law and good friend, Douglas McCauley.

A wonderful woman, with a huge heart, infectious sense of humor and bright smile, Judy loved to golf and could be found many days on the golf courses of Florida or anywhere she could play.  She notably recorded a hole in one on a course on the Cape and was able to play the crown jewel of golf, St. Andrews in Scotland.  Judy and Ginny were also members of the RVW association and traveled extensively throughout the country in their RV enjoying many destinations with fellow members.  She was also an avid fly-fishing woman. 

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 9:30-11 am with her funeral service to begin immediately at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  Burial to follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
