June is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Herbert “Bud” H. Casey; two sons, William McElhiney and his wife Paula of Monson, MA, and Gerard McElhiney and his wife Leslie of Gilbert, Arizona; two daughters, Elizabeth Keating and her husband Michael of Worcester, and Susan Casey O’Neill of Chelmsford; a sister, Constance Gracie of Billerica; six grandchildren, Benjamin McElhiney and his wife Paula, Danielle McElhiney and her significant other Michael Christ, Andrew Keating and his wife Caleigh, Erin Borghetti and her husband Paul, Liam O’Neill, and Seamus O’Neill; five great grandchildren, Dominic, Sean, Rowan, Lane, and Lillian; many beloved nieces and nephews. June was born in Newton, daughter of the late, William and Marguerite (Maloney) Depper.
June graduated from Woburn High School in 1948 and later graduated from the Boston School of Dental Nursing, where she earned a certificate in dental assisting. She worked for several years in various dental offices before staying at home to raise her children. June worked as an office administrator for a number of years prior to moving to Central Massachusetts. She worked at Quinsigamond Community College prior to her retirement. June enjoyed being a part of any community she resided, most notably while living most of her life in Woburn. As a student at Woburn High School (WHS), June was a member of the high school marching band and served as captain of the majorettes. She was thrilled to reignite this passion later in life, when her daughter, Susan played in the band, as she served as a member and later president of the WHS Band Guild. June was involved with school PTOs, Girl Scout troops and attended most of her children’s sporting events.
June was a talented seamstress and dress maker, creating some meaningful articles of clothing for close friends and her family. She was philanthropic toward animal rights organizations and rescue groups. She loved New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox. June had great memories of traveling with Bud, her sister, Connie, and her late brother-in-law, George. She was proud of her home and loved to maintain flower gardens; and loved to be surrounded by her family.
Her family would like to thank the staff of caring people at the Christopher House in Worcester, their care of June has been of great comfort to the family.
