June Marie (Lamothe) Battista, 66, a resident of Worcester, passed away surrounded by loved ones, Sunday, May 5th, 2024, after a period of declining health.
June was born in Worcester, June was the daughter of the late Kathleen (Rourke) Lamothe, Puzo, and Wilfred J. Lamothe, Sr. She was raised in Worcester and graduated from North High School. June was then so proud to earn her certificate with the National Association of Power Engineers. She went on to work for the Worcester County Sheriffs Office, the Froshinn Club as an event planner and caterer and finally realizing her love for animals as a pet groomer, before retiring.
June is survived by the family she loved, her father, Wilfred J. Lamothe Sr. of Agawam; a brother, Wilfred “Billy” Lamothe, and his wife Cathy of Worcester; two sisters, Beverly Battista and her husband Barry of Agawam, Lori Zinkevich and her husband Mark of Leicester; Aunt, Beverly Anthony; many cousins including, Suzanne Anthony whom she thought of as another sister; nephews and nieces including, and her nephew Luca who she adored. In addition to her mother, her stepfather (Papa), Richard M. Puzo and brother, Richie Puzo, along with her beloved dog Nikki all predeceased her.
June loved the Boston Sports scene, notably the Boston Red Sox. Her favorite pass time was cooking for her family and Strafmore friends. June was a kindhearted soul with a huge heart, and bright smile. She cherished her Irish roots, and her trip to Ireland was one of the highlights of her life. Having her family around her were the special moments that will be remembered.
A period of calling hours will be held Saturday, May 11th from 9 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St followed by a procession to St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. A burial will be held Monday May 13th, at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
