Katherine Moore (Young) McGlinchy, 66, of Worcester, MA unexpectedly left her earthly home on January 3, 2022. Kathy was born on February 23, 1955, in Malvern, AR. She grew up an Air Force Brat until graduating in 1973 from Oscoda High School in Oscoda MI. Her adult years took her to Saudi Arabia, Waco TX, and Mobile, AL, where she eventually met and fell in love with the man who made her feel like a true Queen, which led her back north to Massachusetts for the final chapter of her eventful life.
Kathy was the Beloved wife of John H. McGlinchy, with whom she shared a beautiful 23-year relationship; Loving mother of Sarah Young of Mobile AL, Diana Young of Mobile AL, Bailey Iannucci and husband Adam, of Spencer MA, Katie Young of Worcester MA, and Julia McCoy of Manchester, NH. Cherished Grammy of Jordan, Orlando, Mykael, Antonio, Alana, Brendan, Emma, Sophia, Kalie, Alyiah, Joshua, Kara, Jonathan, Willow, and Vivianne; Great-Grammy of Jayce and Orlando III; and Treasured sibling of Sherry Williams of MT, Edward Moore and wife Sherry of CO, Teresa Moore of CO, Laura Mower of CO, and Bethany Moore of NC. She also left a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends to mourn her tragic passing. Joyfully welcoming her to her forever home were her parents, Hershel and Patricia Moore of AR and CO; grandparents James Myers, Neoma Cook Smith, Ellis Moore, and Thelma Rutherford (Moore) Harris; as well as her beloved Uncle Tommy, Aunt Vera, and many other family members and friends.
To say that Kathy loved her family is a gross understatement. Her entire life centered around her family, and she was its heart. From childhood, Kathy was the Pied Piper of neighborhood children, collecting and gathering them to read to and play with, thus preparing herself for motherhood. She loved her daughters fiercely and extended that love to others who needed her. Following in her own mother’s footsteps, Kathy was a safe haven for young people weathering life’s storms alone. Her unbounded love only expanded when she had grandchildren, and she was the Best Grammy Ever!! She was an active force in their lives... baking and crafting with them, hosting movie nights and living room dance parties, and always at the ready with the most incredible hugs. Kathy was a lover of books, enjoyed cross-stitching, and spending time in the kitchen (as long as it didn’t involve pan gravy). She loved the mountains, Mardi Gras, Country and Classic Rock music, and absolutely adored a gathering. Sharing in the laughter of her family and friends was one of her most favorite things in the world. She was also a Mega Alabama football fan. Game day was the one time you would see another side of this sweet and gentle soul, as she yelled and threatened the tv screen, and screamed her favorite phrase… ROLL TIDE, ROLL!!!!!
