Kathleen “Kay” (Hehir) Dagle, 79 of Worcester, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away surrounded by family, in her home Friday, May 18, 2018, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Kay the matriarch of her family was born and raised in Worcester, one of nine children of Thomas and Grace (Goechler) Hehir. On her birthday, September 27th 1958, Kathleen married the “Love of Her Life” Timothy F. “Tippy” Dagle, and began a nearly 60 year marriage of love, devotion and family, mostly in the upper Burncoat neighborhood of Worcester. Kay also worked for over 20 years for the U.S. Government, Social Security department before retiring.
She is survived by her devoted Love, Timothy; her four children, Paul T Dagle and his wife Ann of East Lyme CT, Michael J. Dagle of Saratoga Springs, NY, Kathleen “Kathy” Sacco and her husband Pat of Shrewsbury and Nancy O’Malley of Worcester; a brother William Hehir of Worcester; two sisters, Carol Quinn of Shrewsbury and Judy Donnellan on Cape Cod; 13 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Kay was pre deceased by two of her grandchildren, Timothy and Brian Dagle, five siblings, John and Robert Hehir, Grace Eithier, Patricia Wickham, and Mary Sullivan.
She was a member, church volunteer and Eucharistic minister of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Kay was an avid golfer, enjoying most days on the golf course with Tippy, playing in the couple’s league and also playing her ladies league in East Brookfield. She loved to travel, family vacations on Cape Cod, holidays, and special occasions and anytime she could be around her precious family, especially her grandchildren. Kay truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important parts of her life and had room in her heart for everyone she met. She was an excellent cook and baker, her family looking forward to the days they could taste her food. She was very generous with her love, time and resources, and helped anyone who needed something. A simple woman, whose unwavering Irish catholic faith kept her grounded in life and helped her through life's challenges, Kay’s passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Sunday May 20th 2018 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. Her funeral will be held Monday, May 21st from the funeral home with a procession to her church, Our Lady of Rosary Church, 35 Fales St where her celebration of life mass will be held at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her can be made to the Brian T. Dagle foundation, P.O. Box 402, East Lyme CT, 06333.
