Kathleen A Kowalik

Kathleen A Kowalik 63, a lifelong resident of Worcester and retired nurse died at home on Thursday September 30, 2021.  Born in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Edward and Judith (Mullen) Kowalik.

Kathleen is survived by her brother Christopher C Kowalik, of Worcester, her sister Kelly J. Solitro and her husband Mathew, of Shrewsbury.  She is also survived by her nephew Matthew Kowalik, and her niece Allison Kowalik.  She is also survived by the three most important people in her life, with whom she had the most special bond. Her nephew and godson Dominic A. Solitro, as well as her beloved nephews Vincent Solitro, and Dante Solitro. She lived for the three of them and spent every weekend with them throughout their childhood. As they grew, she visited often and would call them daily to just say hello. Those visits, phone calls and her voice will truly be missed by many including cousins and special friends, especially her cousin Elizabeth "Becky" Riley and her husband Larry. 

Besides her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her sister Kim M. Kowalik-Murphy who died in 1998.

Kathleen graduated from Marian High School in Worcester. She received her nursing degree from Newton-Wellesley Hospital Nursing School.  She later received her master’s degree in Human Service Administration from Springfield College.  Kathleen worked as a Registered Nurse in area hospitals, and she was proud that she was a nurse at City Hospital, until it closed.  She worked as a visiting nurse for many years before her retirement.
Kathleen was an active and supporting member of St. John’s Church in Worcester and will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a faithful dear friend who was always willing to serve where she could. 

Services for Kathleen will begin with calling hours on Thursday October 7, 2021 from 4-7pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Worcester, MA 01605.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday October 8, 2021 at 11am at St John Church 40 Temple St. Worcester, Ma 01604. Burial will be private at St. John’s Cemetery at a later date.
