Kathryn M. (Volpe) Giannetta, 76 of Worcester passed away peacefully Saturday, May 5th2018, with those she loved by her bedside.
Kathryn was born on November 8, 1941, raised in the Italian neighborhood off of Shrewsbury Street, a daughter of Felix and Mary A. (Mancini) Volpe. She graduated from Commerce High School and earned her cosmetology certificate from Broms Academy. Over the next thirty years, Kathryn loved working in the salon and insuring her clients left her shop looking impeccable. Some of the salons she worked at were, Mademoiselle in Shrewsbury, Genaro’s Coiffeur and the Coronet on Pleasant Street.
In 1964, in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, she married the man who became her devoted husband and hero, Francesco “Frank” Giannetta. Together they then settled in the Belmont Hill section of Worcester, to raise their family. They have lived there ever since.
Kathryn is survived by her husband Frank; her pride and joy, her daughter Lucia A. Giannetta and her beloved son in law Barry A. Friedman of New Jersey; her cherished granddaughter and heart's inspiration, Isabella “Bella”; a brother, Joseph F. Volpe and his wife Mary of Worcester; sister, Linda Trainor of Princeton; nieces, nephews, extended family both here and in San Sebastiano, Provincia Di Napoli, Italy.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish, a devoted Catholic and treasured her Italian Heritage. She was a beautiful person who filled her home with love and family. Her smile and laughter would light up the room and she loved to entertain and share her life with others. For Kathryn, along with her husband, Lucia and Bella always came first in her life no matter what. She was so proud of Lucia’s career and accomplishments. Kathryn’s favorite pastime was watching Lucia and Bella perform, whether in the kitchen or on a stage. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through life's challenges. Her passing will forever leave a hole in our hearts but her memory and spirit will live on forever through those who love her.
