Laurie Marie Pacheco, 49 of Leominster, passed away and was reunited with her daughter in heaven on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at UMass Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Laurie was born in Worcester and lived the majority of her life on the family farm in Sterling, she was one of six children to the late Manuel “Manny” A. and Marguerite L. (Gaucher) Pacheco. She graduated from St. Peter Marian Central Catholic High School and later attended courses at Becker Junior College. Laurie worked as the secretary and office manager of the family business, Sterling Plumbing and Heating for many years alongside her father and brothers. Laurie and her sisters, Linda and Lisa received training and certification with M.E.C.T.A.; Massachusetts Emergency Care Training Agency and upon completion, they all became EMTs and joined Sterling Firefighter’s Ambulance Service in Sterling. Laurie was a hard worker, loved going to the casino, vacationing in Maine, camping and horseback riding.
Laurie is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Victor M. Moniz; her beloved granddaughter, Drea Pacheco Moniz; two brothers, Robert C. and Paul M. Pacheco; two sisters, LeeAnne E. Prendiville and her husband David, Linda M. Kimball and her husband Mark, all of which reside in Sterling; her father-in-law, Antonio Moniz of Leominster; two brothers-in-law, Paolo Moniz of Tewksbury and Eusebio Moniz and his wife Brandi of Hudson, NH; a sister-in-law, Christina Moniz of Leominster; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her daughter and best friend, Angela M. Pacheco and her big sister, Lisa Pacheco; her mother-in-law, Valdemira Moniz.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, August 6th at 10:30 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling.
