Leo F McManus, 95 of Shrewsbury died peacefully Wednesday January 8, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Leo was founder and President of L. F. McManus Company, a national management research and consulting company based in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was a licensed psychologist in the state of Massachusetts. Leo traveled extensively as a lecturer and speaker. He was a regular presenter at the American Management Association, the International Speakers Bureau; Mass Bankers Association and the Center for Creative Leadership. He served on many corporate boards including Consumers Savings Bank, T.K. Keith Company and the Higgens Armory Museum. He was a trustee at Fitchburg State University. He is a veteran of the United States Army.
Leo received his Bachelor of Science degree at Fitchburg State University. He received his Masters Degree in Industrial Psychology from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and completed his doctoral studies at University of Connecticut, Storrs.
Leo is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Lilly McManus. He leaves his four daughters, Carey A Kozlowski and her husband John of Auburn; Erin Motameni of Boylston and Essie Motameni of Southboro; Maureen P. Umphrey and her husband James of Northboro; and Tara M. Doyle and her husband Robert of Glastonbury, Ct. He also leaves ten grandchildren; David Motameni and his wife Monika, Lisa Motameni, Julie Kozlowski; Jay, Tim, Caitlin and Matthew Umphrey; and Joseph, Kathryn and Clare Doyle. He is predeceased by his parents Kathryn and Leo McManus Sr and his siblings, Mary McManus Morin, Paul McManus, George McManus and Edward McManus.
Leo loved his family and enjoyed sharing his love of the military including a large collection of antique military vehicles. He enjoyed his extensive travels with his wife and family. Leo loved classical music, technology and was an accomplished marksman and member of various sports rifle ranges.
Leo’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 12, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel.
