Leon M. Mallette, 77, of Worcester, a dedicated husband, father and grandfather passed away surrounded by loved ones, Tuesday, January 21st 2025 after a period of declining health.
Leon was born in Worcester on September 17, 1947, a son of Leon M. and Rita (LeDoux) Mallette. Raised in Shrewsbury, he graduated from Shrewsbury High School, joined the Massachusetts Army National Guard, and began a long career as a route driver for the teamsters local 170, for United Parcel Service “UPS” before retiring. In 1967, Leon married the “Love of his life” Donna Lee Bondanza and began a life of faith, family and friends raising their family in the Indian Lake neighborhood of Worcester.
Leon leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Donna Lee; a daughter Courtney DesRosiers, and her husband John, grandsons, Andrew DesRosiers, Jack DesRosiers and his wife Mackenzie; a brother, John Mallette in Saugus, Denise Lapriore of Hull, Marguerite “Maggie” Allen of Grafton, Ann Marie of Shrewsbury; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A brother, Peter Mallette, predeceased him.
Leon was a kindhearted man with a big smile and quick wit. He loved traveling to Florida, notably Disney world, animals, and especially Australian Shepherds. . He was a huge Jimmy Buffet and Margaritaville enthusiast, enjoying concerts, restaurants and everything Margaritaville.
Funeral services are private. A celebration of life is being planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the American Heart Association, 93 Worcester St, Wellesley 0248. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements
