Lila M. (Bull) Ketter, 80, of Worcester, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 27, 2021, in Springfield.
Lila was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, the daughter of Earl and Christine (Freeman) Bull. She moved to Worcester in 1965, where she has lived ever since. She worked many years as house manager for YOU Inc. helping to guide and assist less fortunate children to attain a bright future. With her huge heart and an innate ability to meet people and become instant life-long friends, many children from the program still remember her fondly. Lila was also a long-time member, secretary/treasurer and volunteer for Worcester Baptist Church. As the matriarch of her family, Lila was always the center of attention, entertaining, cooking and hosting holidays and special occasions.
Lila's first husband, Charles E. Ketter, Sr. passed away in 2004, and her second husband, Joseph Harper, also passed away in 2004. She is survived by six children: Willie L. Ketter, Charles E. Ketter, Jr., Sonya Ketter-Moore and her husband, Regon Moore, Richard S. Ketter, Parrish Timothy "Tim" Ketter and Nerissa Harper; a brother, Timothy Bull and sister-in-law, Harriet Bull; a sister, Earline Bull; 26 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and husbands, a special godson, Craig S. Bull; daughter, Trozes E. Ketter and her brother, Curtis Bull, all predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A service will be held beginning at 12noon in the funeral home.
