Lillian D. MacWhinnie

June 8, 1942 — October 2, 2021

Lillian D. (Boyd) MacWhinnie, 79 of Worcester, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away surrounded by her adoring family on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. Lillian fought a three-year battle against multiple myeloma. Her husband of 16 years, Milton MacWhinnie passed away in 1992. Lillian was born on June 8, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY and was preceded in death by her father, Charles D. Boyd and her mother Lillian D. (Watt) Boyd. She worked for Shawmut Bank for 23 years. She is survived by her children, Sally Swift, Robin Swift, Jr. and his wife Dawn, Thomas Swift and his wife Becky, Marcia Gilloly and her husband Joe and George Swift and his wife Tina; two stepdaughters, Wendy Rappazzo and her husband Sonny and Laura Matthews; three sisters, Grace Fogt of Ohio, Evelinia Howeles of Florida, and Jeanette Boyd of Maryland; one brother, Ira Boyd of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; her godson, Billy Kwaitkowski; a brother in-law, Arthur MacWhinnie and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by two brothers, Charles and William Boyd; a sister, Florence Moore and a stepdaughter, Ann Marie MacWhinnie. Lillian was a longtime member of Worcester Deaf Club and for Worcester Deaf Senior Center. She enjoyed doing puzzles, playing bingo at the Worcester Deaf Senior Center and watching Disney movies. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tony Samaha and the amazing Reliant infusion team for all their dedication. Family and friends are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238 Boston, MA 02241-4238.
