Linda M. (Fontaine) Barrett

Linda M. (Fontaine) Barrett, of Paxton, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Knollwood Nursing Center in West Boylston. She was the beloved wife of the late, William F. Barrett.

Linda is survived by her three loving children, Robert L. Gentile and his wife Ann-Marie of Douglas, Brenda M. Gentile of Worcester, Brian M. Gentile and his wife Adrienne of Millbury; and two stepchildren Kerry J. Williams and her husband Thomas of Fargo, ND, William Barrett of North Carolina; her ten adoring grandchildren; her eleven dear great grandchildren; her cherished siblings, Joann Trotto and husband Michael of Worcester, MA, Mark Fontaine of Orange, MA, Doreen Alarie of Worcester, MA and Sherry Edmond-Belair of West Boylston; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Linda was predeceased by her father Authur Fontaine, her mother Florence (DiPasquale) Fontaine and her sister Catherine Boivin.

Linda was born in Worcester on May 4, 1948, and was the oldest of four children born to Arthur and Florence (DiPasquale) Fontaine. Following high school, she began a career in retail which ultimately led her to Worcester Community Action Council where she worked as a fuel assistance outreach coordinator until her retirement. 

Linda loved spending time with her family, long rides to Vermont, reading a good book while her husband hunted and taking rides just to get an ice cream.

Linda’s greatest joy in life were spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, sharing stories and creating cherished memories. 

Although Linda is no longer with us, she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. 

A period of Calling Hours will be on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 Linda’s prayer service begins at 7:00 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
