Linda (DiReda) Sacco

March 12, 1942 — March 13, 2021

Linda E. (DiReda) Sacco, 79 a life-long resident of Worcester passed away unexpectedly, Saturday March 13, 2021 one day after celebrating her 79th birthday.

Born in Worcester, Linda was one of four children of Salvatore and Grazia (Ricchuiti) DiReda. Raised here, Linda married the love of her life Pasquale Sacco on October 20, 1962 in St. Margaret Mary Church. They settled off Plantation Street where they spent 26 years,  moving to the Greendale area of the city for the next 35 years raising their family with faith, love and devotion. Linda worked for 26 years at Allmerica Financial, formerly State Mutual Life Assurance Co. before retiring in 2004.

Linda is survived by her loving family, her husband Pasquale Sacco; two children Ann-Marie Quarta and her husband Anthony of Shrewsbury, her son Michael P. Sacco, CPA, MST and his wife Andrea of Worcester. Four grandchildren Anthony F. Quarta, Jr., Nicholas M. Quarta, Ariana E. Sacco and Michael P. Sacco, Jr., two great grandchildren Nicholas and Jacob Quarta, nieces, nephews, cousins and many extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Ida DiReda-Allen, and brothers Joseph and Thomas DiReda.

Linda was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel & Loreto Parish. A long-time member of the Order Sons of Italy Lodge #168 and its bocce league  where she was  affectionately known as the “scorekeeper” and the “GM”. Linda loved traveling with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law whenever they could especially to the beautiful coastline of Maine as well as their frequent visits to all the casinos. She was an avid New England Patriots fan and could be found every Sunday sitting next to her husband cheering on her favorite team. One of Linda’s best memories was attending a game while on a trip to San Diego and watching the Pats defeat the San Diego Chargers in 2014. Linda and Pat were inseparable. She was a woman of extreme faith who attended Mass regularly, always faced challenges with a positive outlook, and always greeted  people with a big smile and kind word. She lived a quiet life of family devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than to spend time with them, especially on holidays and special occasions.  A woman of many talents, she was best known for her Christmas cookies. Even though her hands and body would not cooperate, she made sure everyone received a tray.

The Sacco family would like to thank the Worcester Fire Department, EMS and St Vincent’s Emergency staff for all their selfless efforts.
