Lorraine L. ”Bunny” Bellenoit, 96, formerly of Grafton Hill in Worcester, passed away peacefully Thursday, May12th 2022 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester with family in attendance.
Lorraine was born on August 8, 1925 in Worcester and was the only daughter of Joseph and Louise (Messier) Pelletier. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1943. After graduating, she worked briefly at State Mutual Insurance. On June 8th 1946, she married her late husband Raymond “Benny" Bellenoit. Together they settled on Grafton Hill and eventually moved to Elmire Avenue. She was a devoted housewife to Benny who retired from the former PresMet Corporation in Worcester in 1994. Benny passed away in April 2017.
Lorraine is survived by four children: Elaine L Brazeau of Woodstock, CT, James R Bellenoit and his wife Trisha of Carlisle, PA, Robert P. Bellenoit and his wife Sharon of Longmeadow, MA and David M. Bellenoit of Douglas, MA. Her eldest son John R. Bellenoit predeceased her in February 2021 and is survived by his wife Rachel of Chicopee, MA.
Lorraine also leaves behind nine grandchildren she cherished; Hayden, Ross, Simone, Michael, Matthew, Christine, Patrick, Jennifer and Mark, along with eight great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends. Her brothers Armand, Leo, Hector, Paul and George Pelletier predeceased her.
While living on Grafton Hill, Bunny and Benny raised their family with love, devotion and faith. She was an active parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Worcester singing in the church choir. They later moved to Douglas, MA in 2000 and became members of St. Denis Parish.
While Lorraine enjoyed knitting and gardening, she will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, humble spirit and unique “accounting” skills.
The family would like to thank the staffs at both Brookdale Assisted Living in Auburn, and the Jewish Healthcare Center for the outstanding care they provided for Lorraine in her final years.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours from 9 - 10 am, Friday, May 20th at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Church Holy Family Parish 35 Hamilton St, Worcester, MA 01604. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St, Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St, Worcester, MA 01609.
