Lorraine S. (Santon) O’Neil, 95, a lifelong resident of Worcester passed away surrounded by loved ones Friday, March 15, 2024. She is welcomed into heaven by her husband of 54 years, John J. O’Neil, Jr., daughter-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” O’Neil and brother, Howard Santon.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Marshall A. and Clarinda (Gulbeault) Santon. Lorraine graduated from Commerce High School, married the “Love of her Life” John J. O’Neil, Jr. and began a life of love, faith, and family raising their family. Lorraine worked for The Umass-Memorial Healthcare, Memorial Campus before retiring. She previously worked for the City of Worcester School department, Morgan Construction and the New England Telephone Company.
Lorraine’s husband, John passed away in 2005. She is survived by her four devoted children, Maureen A. Beauregard and her husband John of South Grafton, Margaret M. Quinlivan and her husband Robert of Worcester, Stephen F. O’Neil and his wife Patricia of Yarmouth, and John J. O’Neil of Holden; a brother-in-law, William O’Neil and his wife Betty of Holden; 11 grandchildren she cherished; 12 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Lorraine was a member of the Greendale YMCA. She enjoyed bowling and going to the movies. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Lorraine had a huge heart, and bright smile. The greatest moments in her life were those spent with her family. The holidays, specials occasions, dinners and whenever her family could be around her will be the times remembered.
Funerals services and burial next to her husband John in St John’s Cemetery will be held privately. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to Vets inc, 60 Grove Street, Worcester. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
