Lucia “Lou” Brescia, 77, of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. She leaves a loving family and friends.
Lucia was born and raised in Worcester, MA. She was predeceased by her parents, Carlo and Josephine (Rigante) Brescia; her brother, Vincenzo Brescia; her brother-in-law, Donald Goodwin; and a nephew, Arthur Laflamme.
Lou shared a special bond with her sister, Julia (Brescia) Goodwin, of Millbury. They were always together, accidentally dressing alike, getting lost in the car, laughing and arguing their way through many adventures. Lou is survived by Julia and her children, Sharon and Stephen Sudar of Millbury, Donna Laflamme of Rowley, and Michael and Cathy Goodwin of Dudley, MA. She also left behind many nieces, nephews, and their families.
After graduating from Salter Secretarial School, Lucia went on to work for a series of doctors and UMass until she retired. Lou loved to travel. She was an avid and talented baker, known for her delicious Christmas cookies that she would bake in abundance, much to her family’s delight! She also loved reminiscing about time spent with family in Italy and was fascinated by history.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit Lucia’s family from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, January 3, 2025, at MERCADANTE FUNEAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd, Worcester. Entombment will immediately follow at Notre Dame Cemetery & Mausoleum, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lucia’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
