Lucinda “Cindy” (Bertrand) Gremo, 68, a lifelong Worcester resident passed away Monday, May 20th, 2024, with the family she loved gathered by her side after a prolonged period of health challenges. Cindy is welcomed in heaven into the arms of her daughter Erika who left her side on April 22, 2002.
Cindy was born in Worcester, one of four daughters of Roland and Dolores (Nadreau) Bertrand. Raised in Worcester, Cindy graduated from the Worcester Girls Trade. She then married the “Love of her Life” Michael Gremo, settled in the Massasoit Road neighborhood of Worcester to raise their family for the next 50 years. Cindy worked many years for the BJ’s Wholesale Club, retiring recently as a shift manager in Westboro and Northboro.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael; a son, Michael A. Gremo of Eureka, California; her best friend who was at her side and always there through her troubles, Carol Masoero; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Cindy was a member and church volunteer of Our Lady of Loreto Church. She loved and was an accomplished cook and baker. The Matriarch of her family, Cindy’s life was dedicated to her husband and children, always happy with them around her. She was a quiet woman with a huge heart and caring soul, who always lent a hand to those in need. She notably enjoyed making heart pillows to donate to heart patients at St Vincent Hospital.
The Gremo family would like to thank the ICU team at St. Vincent's Hospital, Christopher House, and Jewish Healthcare Center for the care, compassion and comfort they gave to Cindy during a difficult time.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather for calling hours Tuesday, May 28th from 4 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, May 29th from the funeral home with a procession beginning at 9:30 am to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd where Msgr Stephen Pedone will celebrate her funeral at 10 am. Burial with Erika will follow in St John Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
