Luis Robert Cox, 63, of Spencer, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at UMass Hospital in Worcester.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-four years, Nydia Elicier; their six children, Jenniffer Cox, Indira D. Cox, Stella M. Cox, Luis R. Cox, Jr., Ruth L. Cox, and Edith A. Elicier; fifteen grandchildren, U.S. Marine Alexander J. Martell, Rachell Iraola, David J. Acevedo, Jomar Matos, Luis D. Cox, Emanuell Iraola, Iseas Acevedo, Maikel J. Feliz, Melanie Cox, Nydializ Feliz, Jacob Acevedo, Jelismary Feliz, Mya Ruiz, Nahyeli Ann Cox, and Beverly Cox; seven siblings, Edwin G. Cox, Hector R. Cox, Angel D. Cox, Felix Isaac, Sonia M. Cox, Maria V. Cox, and Elizabeth Cox; many other family members, sons and daughters in law, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his oldest brother, Johhny Cox and by his stepfather, Felix A. Isaac. Luis was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, son of the late, Juan Jose Cox and Nereida Ayala.
Luis “Robert” grew up in Puerto Rico and was successful as a mechanic and all around “handy-man”. He moved to Worcester in August 1992 to be closer to family and moved to Spencer about 3 years ago. He loved his family, collecting antique cars classical music and watching the Red Sox.
Calling Hours will be on Monday, October 18, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, October 19, at 10 a.m. La Senda Antigua, 2 Woodland Street, Worcester. (kindly go directly to church). Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
