Marc E. Benoit, 86, of Worcester, formerly of Haiti passed away at home Thursday, December 31st, 2020 with loved ones gathered at his side after a period of declining health.
Marc was born in Leogane, Haiti, January 8th, 1934, the son of Andre and Illenise Benoit. Raised and educated in Haiti, Marc immigrated to the U.S. in 1982 with his family settling in Worcester where he has lived ever since. Marc worked to support his family as a preparation Chef for various restaurants most recently the Post Office Pub in Grafton before retiring.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie A. (Jean) Benoit; his five children, Jude, Ketty Benoit, Hotniel, Josue and Markens Benoit; his brother Phillip Benoit; two sisters, Gislaine and Josette; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and extended family members both here in the United States and in Haiti.
Marc was a founding member and a leader of the First Haitian Baptist church in Worcester.
A period of visitation will be held Friday, his birthday January 8th from 9:30 AM TO 11:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by his funeral service at 11:30. Entombment will be in St John’s Mausoleum.
