Margaret Ann "Maggie" Riggieri

October 21, 1935 — December 11, 2022

Margaret Ann “Maggie” (Fisher) Riggieri, 87, of Worcester passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at UMass Hospital, with her family by her side.  She was predeceased by her  husband of 43 years, William A. Riggieri in February 2002.

Maggie is survived by her loving children, Michael Riggieri and his wife Dr. Yvonne Shelton of Northborough, William Riggieri and his wife Maria-Elaina of Worcester, Andrea Afshari and her fiancé Steve Crasco of Westborough, Kathleen Harrington and her husband David of Worcester, and Raymond Riggieri and his wife Christine of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren, Kristen, William , Michaela , Nicholas , Michael, Christina, Alexis, Rachel, Julia, Victoria , Morgan, Dominic, Carmen, and Matteo;  ten great grandchildren, Giovanni, Mari-Elaina, Rosalia, Nicholas, Brooks, Henry, Lyla, Sophie, Jonathan, and Luke; two sisters and a brother, Helen Glenn of Portsmouth, RI, Kathleen Foss and Raymond Fisher, both of Newport, RI; nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Albert Fisher.  She was born in New London, CT, daughter of the late, Albert and Josephine (Kudluck) Fisher.

Maggie graduated from Saint Vincent School of Nursing and worked for several years as a Register Nurse.  She later continued her education at Assumption College and Salve Regina, ultimately earning a master’s degree in Psychology and Pastoral Counseling.  Her faith and love of Christ aided her as she pursued a new career in Pastoral Counseling, where she helped guide many people on their spiritual and human journey.

She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, having been the beautiful bride at the very first wedding to take place at Loreto.  She also regularly attended Mass at Saint John’s Church in Worcester and hosted many prayer groups in her home.

She played the accordion and enjoyed classical music.  She was a great cook of both Polish and Italian cuisine. She was an accomplished artist whose artwork was once displayed at the Worcerster Art Museum. Maggie enjoyed watching Korean Films in order to challenge herself to learn a new language. Her passing will leave an emptiness in family and friends’ hearts. She will be dearly missed.

Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, December 14, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Planation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral will be on Thursday, December 15, departing the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. in procession to a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester.
