Margaret (Lanzillotti) DeSantis, 88, a longtime Worcester and Webster resident passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022, with her devoted family gathered at her side after a period of declining health.
Margaret was born in Worcester, the fourth oldest of eight children of Italian immigrants Leonardo and Madelina (Rinaldi) Lanzillotti. Raised in Worcester, she graduated from Commerce High School and Saltus Secretarial. Margaret worked more than 31 years as an office manager for L & P Paper Company, notably working until her 85th birthday before retiring.
Margaret is survived by her two devoted children, Angelo DeSantis, and his wife Carla DeSantis with whom she lived with for 20 years, Maria DeSantis and her husband Bruce Hillard of Wilmington, MA; two granddaughters, Leana Blash and her husband Aaron, and Danielle DeSantis; two great grandchildren, Becca, and Bobby Blash; a brother, Robert Lanzillotti and his wife Karen; a sister, Joann Kozak and her husband Andrew; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Two brothers, Domenic and Anthony Lanzillotti, and three sisters, Rose Saksa, Marie Lanzillotti, and Carmella Delaney, all predeceased her.
Margaret was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them throughout life. She was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, watching tennis, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to cook Italian dinners with her family but baking just wasn’t her forte like it was for her sisters. She honestly believed that family was the most important part of life. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through life's challenges. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Wednesday, September 7th, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Thursday, September 8th, from the funeral home beginning in procession at 9:30 am to St John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, where her Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 209 W Central St Ste 207, Natick, MA 01760.
