Marian Bates

Marian Louise Bates ("Miny"), 75, passed away November 11th 2024, at UMass Medical Center at the Lake, after a lengthy struggle with respiratory issues.

Born in Worcester, Miny was a lifelong resident, attending Classical High School and graduating in the first class at Doherty High School in 1967. After high school she attended Queens College (now University) in Charlotte, NC, in 1971, with a degree in graphic arts. She then returned to Worcester, working as an independent designer and with Small Business Service Bureau.

Born Oct. 13, 1949 to Arthur D. and Helen (Wilkinson) Bates, Miny is survived by her loving sister Sally (Bates) Griffith (Keith), of Orlando, FL, nieces Christine Merullo (Matt), of Madison, CT, Elizabeth Hawks (Timmy), of High Point NC, and Kathryn Barker (Tim) of Davidson, NC., nephew Timothy (Allison) of Palm Harbor, FL and niece Cathleen Viscovich (Andrew) of Ocoee, FL.

In addition to surviving family, Miny was predeceased by her sister Linda (Bates) Griffin and her husband Walt, of Elon, NC. Beyond family Miny had several special friends she cared for - the Harrity family, plus Elizabeth, Stuart, Scott, Candace, Linda, Jackie and others.

A memorial service is planned for April 7, 2025, at 2 PM, at All Saints Church, with internment at a later date. If desired, contributions may be made in Miny's name to All Saints Church in Worcester.
