Marianne (DeMaio) Noonan, 93, of Holden, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, March 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Marianne was born in Worcester, the oldest of six children, of Anthony and Victoria (Casella) DeMaio. She was raised in Worcester and was a graduate of Commerce High School. Marianne worked over 45 years for the Worcester Gas Light Company, remaining through three company name changes and retired as the first female department manager.
Marianne was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, William F. Noonan, in 1991. She is survived by her three sisters, Elizabeth Brosnihan and Rosalie Catino of Holden, and Lorraine Murley, with whom she made her home; a brother, Anthony DeMaio of Holden; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A brother, Robert DeMaio predeceased her.
Marianne was a member of St. George Church. The head of her family, Marianne upheld her large Italian family traditions, notably family Christmas Eve celebrations, family holiday Italian cookie bakes with her sisters and nieces, and summer vacations at her Cape Cod home in West Yarmouth. She also loved traveling with her family.
A period of calling hours will be held Monday, March 14th from 9:30 am to 11:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, before proceeding in procession to St. George Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester, where family friend Monsignor Michael Rose will celebrate her funeral Mass at 12 noon. Entombment with her beloved husband William will follow in St. John’s Mausoleum.
