Marie (Yaranian) Bahnan

Marie (Yeranian) Bahnan, 89, of Worcester, Mass. a dedicated wife, Mother, and Grandmother passed away Monday, January 31st, 2022, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved.

Marie was born in Beirut, Lebanon. The daughter of Armenian parents, Moses and Ovsania Yeranian, she was raised and educated in Beirut, Lebanon. She began her career as a nurse before marrying Benyamine Bahnan,  she then became a dedicated Mother raising seven sons and caring for her extended family. In 1979 Marie, and her family immigrated to Worcester Mass. She has lived here ever since.

Marie’s husband Benyamine passed away in 2006. She leaves her seven sons, Alfred Bahnan and his wife Nelly, Henri Bahnan and his wife Mary Ann, of Worcester, Tony Bahnan and his wife Hasmig of Auburn, Moses Bahnan and his wife Dima of Whitehall, PA, Jack Bahnan and his wife Susan, of Worcester, Gaby Bahnan and his wife Tamara of Leicester and Raffi Bahnan and his wife Taghreed of Worcester, with whom she lived.  Mrs Bahnan had 24 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family abroad.  Her sister, Sema Avakian predeceased her.

Marie was a founding, active member, and volunteer of St Mary Syriac Orthodox church in Shrewsbury. Marie’s dedication and love was to her husband, children, and grandchildren, they always came first. She was the Matriarch and backbone of her family and remained devoted to them throughout her life. Faith and family were her life.  She always had room in her heart for everyone with generous Love. Her passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts,  but her loving and caring soul will live on forever . “May her memory be eternal”

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Friday, February 4th from 4 pm to 7 pm and again on Saturday February 5th from 9 to 9:45 am in St Mary Syriac Orthodox Church, 1 Industrial Rd, Shrewsbury, Ma 01545. Her funeral service will begin at 10 am Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in St Johns Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her memory can be made to St Mary’s Syriac Church, 1 Industrial Rd Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
