Marie Borbone

Marie L. Borbone of Punta Gorda, FL and Worcester, MA passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2021, after a long battle with renal disease.  

Marie had a successful kidney transplant in 2011 and lived a happy and productive life until the end.  She was grateful every day to the anonymous kidney donor that helped her live a good life.

Marie was born in Worcester to Joseph and Barbara Borbone.  She graduated from Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing and practiced nursing for 44 years.  To her, it wasn’t just a career, it was who she was.  Marie was also an ardent baseball fan.  Team names didn’t matter as much as her love of the game.  While she followed many sports, it was her love of baseball that brought her much joy.

Marie leaves her partner of 21 years, Kathleen M. Cullen; her brother Joseph Borbone and his wife Sandra of Worcester; her nephews, Joshua, Adam, Jay, and Jon; and her sister-in-law Dorothyann Borbone. Marie was predeceased by, her parents, Joseph Borbone and Barbara  (Guilfoyle) Borbone; and her oldest brother, James V. Borbone. 

Friends and relatives are invited to Calling hours, Tuesday, September 21^st from 4 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  Her funeral will be held Wednesday, September 22^nd from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, where her celebration of Christian burial mass will be held at 10:30 am.  Burial with her parents will follow in St John Cemetery.   

In lieu of flowers and donations, Marie has requested that if you are not a kidney donor, please become one.  If you can’t be a donor, please encourage your family and friends to do so.
