Marina (Caban) Arce, 85 of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Marina was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Honorio and Esmeralda (Robles) Caban. She was a woman of immense faith and a chaplain who taught bible study and would visit prisons preaching the Word of God to inmates. Marina was a member of the International Chaplain Association and the First Church Pentecostal Rock of Salvation for many years. In her spare time, Marina was an accomplished seamstress who could make anything.
Marina’s husband of 46 years, Francisco Arce passed away on July 8th 2003. She is survived by her three children, Luis Arce and his wife Aida, George Ivan Arce all of Worcester and Maggie Bowen of Leicester; a brother, William Caban of Bethlehem, PA; a sister, Iris Morro of Hatillo, PR; six grandchildren, Monica, Amanda, Jenny, Jessica, Christine and Sarah; thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, Edwin Gonzalez and Cano Caban.
A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12th at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
