Mario J. Papale, 86, of Holden passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday afternoon, July 21, 2021 at Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester.
He leaves his wife, Frances A. (Riik) Papale and his loving children and grandchildren – Maria Papale and her husband Richard Macksoud of Montclair, NJ, Michael Papale and his wife Sharon of Colchester, CT, Christina Papale and her husband Philip Gardner of New York, NY, Daniel Papale of Boston and grandchildren James and John Macksoud, Gabrielle and Joey Papale, Syd and Lyla Gardner. He is also survived by sisters Rita Dunlop of Westborough, and Mary Andresano of Tuscon, AZ and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Frank Papale, Jr. and Nicholas Papale and sisters, Gloria Billings, Louise Stucchi and Theresa Papale.
Mario was born on January 15, 1935, in Worcester, son of the late Frank and Luisa (Avenia) Papale. He graduated from Commerce High school, the New England School of Accounting, and the School of Industrial Management at WPI. After high school, he served 9 years with the Massachusetts National Guard. He worked at Neles-Jamesbury in Worcester for 31 years retiring as Manager of Cost Accounting. Mario was a member of the Wachusett Country Club and the Holden Towers Worcester Tennis Club. In addition, he was a member of the Syrian Lebanese Club of Worcester.
Mario had a lifetime of wonderful experiences with family and friends. He was an avid tennis player and golfer, loved the ocean, family vacations, and time with his adored grandchildren. He will be remembered for his warmth, compassion, affection, and distinctive style.
Services for Mario will be held on Monday, July 26th at the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with a Mass at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 25th from 3pm – 6pm in the funeral home.
