Marjorie L Maple

Marjorie L. (Stanley) Maple, 86, of Millbury, MA and formerly of Sturbridge, passed away March 31, 2023, after a period of declining health.  She was the wife of the late Donald J. Maple and the beloved mother of Donald J. Maple, Jr. and his wife Kim of Dudley and Jenny Butler and her husband Kevin of Millbury. She also leaves her grandchildren, Sarah Maple, Jestine Butler and Jason Butler, two great-grandchildren, Katelin Lachapelle and Meredith Butler and many nieces and nephews.  Along with her husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her siblings Leonard Stanley of Thompson, CT, Richard Stanley of Narragansett, RI, Ronnie Stanley of Webster, Jane Davis of Oxford, Barbara Stanley of Dudley, Henry Stanley, John Stanley, William Stanley, infants Jimmy and Alice Stanley, and a great-grandson, Joshua Lachapelle.

Marjorie and Don were true sweethearts. It was a rare sight to see one without the other. They spent most of their retirement enjoying the colder months in the Florida sunshine and staying in Sturbridge for half the year to spend time with family. Marjorie loved camping, cooking, baking and small dogs, especially her beloved Pekingese “Muggy.”  She was a woman of strong opinion and didn’t hold back on letting you know what she thought. She was a giving soul and instilled that in her children. Though she was short in stature her personality was large and that matched her heart. She was a strong lioness whose wrath would seek to right the wrongs.

Marjorie’s funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7 at 10:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, followed by burial in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.  Friends may call on the family on Thursday, April 6 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm in the funeral home.
