Mark R. Blanchard

Mark R. Blanchard, 65, of Oakham, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington after a short illness.  

Mark is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen M. (Houlihan) Blanchard; a brother, Daniel Blanchard, sister-in-law, Ann Marie Maros and her husband Joseph. Auntie Bev, several cousins, his best friend, Jimmy MacRae, along with many other great friends. Mark was born in Worcester, son of the late, Ronald and Carol (Blanchard) LaFlash. He was predeceased by his precious daughter Katrina Blanchard in 2016. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. 

Mark opened his first business as a mechanic shortly after graduating. He worked for many years as a registered land surveyor for the City of Worcester. Before retiring in 2008 he started his own business Blanchard Survey. He was a member of the South Barre Rod and Gun Club and attended the Assembly of God Church. He loved the outdoors where he went fishing, hunting, going camping in the RV and spending time together with his wife at their camp in Maine. One of his greatest joys was working as a team with Karen on their hot rods and participating in classic car shows with their friends. Mark was a gentle soul and could find good in everyone. You would often hear him talking to people about the lord and his beliefs. He was definitely a people person, and he will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

Calling Hours will be on Thursday, April 20, from 10 a.m. until a Prayer Service begins at 12 Noon in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Interment will follow at South Cemetery in Oakham.
