Martin J. “Marty” Maynard, 63, of Northborough, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family and close friends.
Marty is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Deborah (Herbert) Maynard; their two children, Alyssa and Daniel; two brothers, Robert and Kevin Maynard; sister-in-law, Elaine Maynard, wife of his late brother, Richard; two brothers-in-law, Tom Herbert and William Herbert and his wife Christine; a sister-in-law, Judith Daoust and her husband George; and many nieces and nephews. Marty was born in Worcester, son of the late Richard E. and Gertrude “Sis” (O’Brien) Maynard and graduated from North High School.
Marty worked in the automotive industry, primarily as an auto parts salesman for several distributors throughout Massachusetts. He was enamored by vintage cars; his 1966 Corvette and his 1970 Z28 were his pride and joy. He had a lifelong passion for sports, and growing up he played baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. He made it known that his football team of choice was the Oakland Raiders (sorry, New England). He also loved to golf and enjoyed the camaraderie you could find on the links.
Marty was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed the times he spent with his family and his trusty companion Shadow. He will be missed by many but remembered forever.
His family would like to thank his close friends at Cumberland Farms and Honey Farms in Northborough, as well as the staff at the Rose Monahan Hospice House, Metrowest Hospice, Dr Geoffrey Shapiro along with Andrew and all the wonderful nurses at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Services were held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Rose Monahan Hospice Residence c/o VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608 or the Amedisys Foundation (Metrowest Hospice) 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816
