Mary Ann (Paluch) Messier

Mary Ann (Paluch) Messier, 84 of Auburn, MA passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, joining in heaven her late husband of 47 years  Frank E. Messier.

Mrs. Messier was born in Watervliet, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Piwnica) Paluch. She  graduated of Watervliet High School, class of 1954, moved to Worcester, MA in 1974 and worked as a secretary in the Worcester School Department for 17 years, retiring in 2002.  She served on the Committee of Management at the Greendale Y and was president/treasurer of the Aquamaids and Greendale Y Swim Clubs for which two of her daughters swam.  After retirement, she and her husband moved to Yarmouthport, MA.  Upon  his passing, Mary Ann  moved to Pittsfield, MA for a time before returning to the Worcester area.

She loved dogs and raised an assistance puppy for NEADS while living in Worcester.  Mary Ann  also enjoyed traveling, gardening, and decorating, as well as walking the beach, bike riding,  and  enjoying her friends and gatherings as a member of the Red Hat Society while living on the Cape.

Mary Ann is survived by four daughters: Kim Messier and her partner Jan Illoven of Auburn, Karen Dunn and her husband David of Hudson, NH, Kathy Messier and her husband Joel Belog of Sturbridge,  Kristen Galeckas and her husband William of Worcester; two sons: Kevin Messier and his partner Erin Carlson of Woodstock, CT,  Keith Messier and his wife Chris of Queensbury, NY.  She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.   She is predeceased by her husband, two brothers, four sisters and one grandchild.

Calling hours will be held from Thursday, August 26^th, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street followed by her funeral service at 6 pm.  A private burial will follow at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
