Mary Ellen (Campbell) DiLiddo, 76 of Worcester passed away surrounded by the ones she loved, Saturday, June 16th 2018, joining in heaven her husband John who passed in 2004 and daughter, Debra Lee White who passed in October of 2017.
Mary Ellen was born in Detroit Michigan, the daughter of Earle and Olive (Haskins) Snetsinger. She moved to Litchfield New Hampshire as a young girl and was educated and raised there by her mother and step father Arnold Campbell. She moved to the Worcester area in the 1960’s where she met and married John P Diliddo Sr, in 1967, enjoying 38 years of marriage together before he passed away in 2004. Mary Ellen earned her LPN nursing certificate from David Hale Fanning Trade and worked as a psychiatric nurse at The Westside House for several years. In between raising her family and working, she returned to school, earning her Registered Nurse Degree from Quisigamond Community College and worked at Westboro State Hospital before being injured at work, causing her to retire from nursing. Despite living with a back injury and chronic pain, she was a selfless, caring person who always put others needs before her own.
Mary Ellen is survived by her three children, Kathryn M. DiLiddo and her boyfriend Ralph Waterman and his son Ralph Adam of Allenstown New Hampshire, Dorothy Labouef and her husband Robert of Dudley, John P. DiLiddo, Jr. and his wife Audra of Worcester; A brother, Arnold Campbell and his wife Martha and sister Andrea Campbell and her husband John Grigun, both of Naples Florida; Seven cherished grandchildren, Carissa, Ashley, Christopher, Jared, Nicholas, Adam and Emily; two great grandsons, Kaleb and Colton; sisters in law, Mary Stewart and Theresa Shimkoski; Many other nieces, nephews and extended family members. Besides her husband, John and daughter, Debra, a brother, Richard Snetsinger and sister, Jane Franks pre deceased her.
Mary Ellen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a former member of The Red Hat Society, with whom she enjoyed many get together and outings. Her true selflessness and passion to care for family, friends and anyone who needed her was her calling. She enjoyed traveling and cruising when she was able, going to the beach, and most of all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters in law Theresa Shimkoski, Mary Stewart and Marilyn Snetsinger and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20th at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. Burial will follow next to John and Debra in Hope Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to the start of the service Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name may be made to any Worcester program helping the Mentally ill, whom she had a special compassion for.
Her family would also like to thank the staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Rose Monaghan Hospice house for taking such good care of her and our family.
