Mary Ellen (Webb) Henderson, 84, of Grafton, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Mary is reunited with her husband of 67 years Lewis who passed away November 11, six weeks ago.
Mary was born in Milo, Me the daughter of Herbert and Alice (Hall) Webb on March 17, 1938. Raised in Maine, Mary married Lewis of March 25, 1955 in Milo. Mary and Lewis then started their family in Maine before moving to Massachusetts. They lived in Charlton and Auburn for many years, before moving to Grafton in 2017.
Mary leaves behind her daughters, Jessie Freitas and her husband Steve of Auburn, Mary Pepka of Auburn, Donna Handfield of Grafton, Deborah Falvo and her husband Lou of Charlton, Gini Urella and her husband Richard of North Grafton, and step-daughter Deborah Mahoney and her husband Brian of Worcester. Mary also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her sister Susan Goodine of Milo, ME, nieces, nephews, and extended family including a very special niece- Vicky Lonchiadis.
Mary touched many people during her life, from the children she cared for as a day care and elementary school teacher to the friends she made in her many other jobs over the years. Mary was a devote Christian and enjoyed reading the Bible, she loved gardening – especially her many Cacti and her large vegetable gardens she grew just to share with family and friends. She loved animals and was hardly seen without her toy poodle Peanut in her lap. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and especially by her heart broken daughters who cannot imagine a world without her in it.
At Mary’s request services will be held privately. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at VNA – especially Nurse Gina - for care and support for both her and Lewis during their hospice at home.
