Mary Jane (Cusson) Porcaro, 90, of Holden, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Auburn Life Care Center. Her loving husband, Francis J. Porcaro, predeceased her in 2018.
Jane is survived by her loving family, including a son, Ronald W. Porcaro and his wife Martha of Paxton; two daughters, Denise F. Porcaro of Holden, her #1 caretaker with whom she lived, and Gina M. Belsito and her husband Albert of Rutland; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Matthew, Deanna, David, and Gianna; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews along with her sister-in-law, Pat Cusson. Jane was predeceased by a daughter, Diane M. Porcaro Paldino in December 2014, a grandson, Danny Belsito in November 2020, and by two brothers, Armand and Leo Cusson. Jane was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Armand J. and Rose A. (LeBlanc) Cusson. She grew up in Shrewsbury and Worcester and graduated from Worcester Girl’s Trade High School. She later graduated from Leo’s Beauty Academy and became a licensed cosmetologist.
Jane began her career as a cosmetologist (Believe it or not!) before going to work beside her mother who was the "Head Chef" at Becker College, (we loved when she brought home the leftovers!! French Cuisine, Crepe Suzette!). Once her children were grown, she began her second favorite job (raising her family was number 1), as a retail sales associate with Filene’s Department Stores. Jane worked with Filene’s for over twenty-five years and loved every minute of it (except at Christmas, which she wanted to say, "OH MY GOOD GOD", but it was not in her nature and bit her tongue. Unlike most of us in those days, our mom had very nice taste. In manners, in clothing, in general. Her good taste extended to a select few "very close friends"! Jane enjoyed the simple things in life such as time with grandchildren, walking, her “Cape House”, Cape Cod lobster, and Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show as we'd often hear and catch her contagious “belly laughter” echoing throughout our home!
We will always feel our mom’s sense of calm and gentleness. We will hear her comforting and gentle voice, see her beautiful blue eyes and always remember her unwavering, undying love (No matter what we did wrong!). She believed that there was no greater joy than peace, solitude, and love of her family and friends; it was a lifestyle she perfected!!! We shall miss her, beyond what words can express....and celebrate her always. Mary Jane Porcaro was and will be forever in our heart as one of the world's rare treasures.
Funeral Services will be held privately.
The family has entrusted Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to New England Hospice, 190 Old Derby St # 304, Hingham, MA 02043
