Matilda Irene Cappoli

Matilda Irene (Getek) Cappoli, 95 of Worcester passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Shrewsbury Nursing Home.

Irene was born in Easthampton, Ma., a daughter of the late Polish immigrants Stanley and Viola (Sadowska) Getek.  She grew up in Worcester and has lived here most of her life where she graduated from Worcester Schools.  Irene worked as a case specialist for the Worcester District Court House for over 30 years before she retired.  Irene enjoyed going shopping with her daughter Diane and spending time at her home in Cape Cod with her husband Al.

Irene’s family would like to expression a heartfelt thank you to all the staff a Shrewsbury Nursing Home for the outstanding care and compassion given to Irene during her time with them.

Irene’s husband, Cesidio “Al” Cappoli passed away on February 2, 2018.  She is survived by her son, Albert Cappoli of Auburn; her son-in-law, Dr. Stephen J. Bourgault of Fitchburg; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dr. Diane Cappoli; and two sisters, Carol Sagnavich and Mary Getek.

Services for Irene will be held privately.  MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to assisting the family with arrangements.
