Matilda A. Kenney

March 13, 1929 — June 2, 2020

Matilda A. (Velleco) Kenney, 91, of Hull Ma. Formerly of Worcester died peacefully Tuesday June 2, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. Her husband Thomas Kenney died February 26,2014. Matilda is survived by her loving family, Daughters, Carol Gorman of Hull, and Maryellen Poskus of Hull, Stepson Larry Kenney and his wife Ellen of Worcester and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. A son Albert Poskus and a daughter Julie Poskus predeceased her. Matilda was also predeceased by a Brother Alfred Velleco and a sister Ann Goddard.

Matilda was born in Worcester daughter of the late Augustino and Mary (DeBonis) Velleco and lived in Worcester while attending Acension School and graduating from North High School. Matilda worked at the David Clark Company as a seamstress for several years and also at the Clearview Gas Station as an administrative assistant. In 1964 she met her husband Tom who would be her husband for over 50 years before he passed in 2014. They moved to Hull Massachusetts where they could enjoy the beautiful seacoast together and raise their family.

Matilda was a long time member of the Church of St Joan of Arc in Worcester. She was an accomplished seamstress and worked for several bridal stores. True to her Italian heritage Matilda enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Her most treasured times were when she was with her family, especially the grandchildren. Matilda enjoyed life, she had a great personality and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Matilda’s funeral will be held Thursday June 11, 2020 at 11:AM in the Church of St. Joan of Arc, 570 Lincoln St. Social distance and a face mask will be required in church. A live stream will be shown during the Mass. Please go to the funeral home website live stream tab to view the Mass. There are limits to amount of people in Church. Interment with her husband will be in St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute P.O. Box 849168 Boston, Ma. 02284.
