Maurice Lee Hampton, 39, of Temple, Texas, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Temple VA Hospital.
Maurice is survived by his mother, Elsie Hampton of Worcester; two daughters, Iyla Hampton of Washington, DC, and Azaria Rose Hampton of Killeen, Texas; a sister, Adina Hampton of Woonsocket, RI; two brothers, James Hampton and Christopher Hampton, both of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Maurice was born in Queens, New York, son of the late, James Means. He grew up in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Vocational High School and later from Salem State University.
Maurice served his nation proudly in the United States Army and served in Iraq and Kuwait, he was also stationed in Korea, Germany, and Texas. Upon his discharge he worked as a catering chef for several catering facilities in Texas.
Maurice was known affectionately as a “gentle giant”, he stood 6’ 6” but his heart was pure love and gold. He enjoyed boxing, training at the gym and singing.
Calling Hours will be on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. until a Prayer Service begins at 12 Noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
Social Distancing protocols and the use of face masks will be practiced at the funeral home.
