Maurice P. Ventura, 92, of Worcester passed away peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2022, after a period of declining health.
Maurice was born in Worcester, the son of Italian immigrants, Peter, and Angelina (Fiorentino) Ventura. He attended Worcester Boys Trade School and joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, serving his country proudly aboard a destroyer. Upon discharge and return to Worcester, Maurice married on June 4th, 1955, the “Love of his life” Lucy Polselli, and they settled in the Lake View neighborhood of Worcester on Carver Street and shared the next 67 years dedicated to each other and their family. Maurice worked over 30 years for the Worcester Telegram and Evening Gazette in the composition department before retiring.
Maurice is survived by his wife Lucy and two sons, Attorney Peter Ventura, and Paul Ventura both of Worcester. He was dedicated to his sons who were his pride and joy whom he cherished. He was also survived by extended family members.
Maurice enjoyed socializing and conversation with family and close friends, and enjoyed Old Movies, Talk Radio, and traditional Italian and Roman Catholic culture and traditions. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.
Funeral services and burial in St John Cemetery were held Privately. Memorial remembrances in his name can be made to help veterans at Vets Inc., 69 Grove Street Worcester. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements
