Melody L. (Eaton) Davis, 75, a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, with the love of her life for the past 30 years Jeanne by her side.
Melody was born in Springfield, May 1, 1948, the daughter of Hervey A. and Marie (Ashworth) Eaton. Raised in Springfield, she graduated from Classical High School and attended Ottawa University in Kansas. Melody then began a life of financial service for Fidelity Investment over the next 18 years before retiring in 2013. Melody began a life of partnership and love with Jeanne (Bowman) Wess, for 30 years, marrying in 2004, living a life of love, sharing and devotion.
Melody is survived by her wife and love, Jeanne; two stepdaughters, Wendy Wess of Birmingham, Alabama, Candice Johanson and her husband Chad of Holden; four adored grandchildren, Asher and Saunder Marcello, Drew and Dean Johanson; brother and sisters-in-law, Gary Bowman in Cuba, NY, David Bowman in Frankfurt, Germany, and Carol Grammar of Geneva, NY; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.
Melody enjoyed bicycling, traveling and photography. She notably was an enthusiastic member and volunteer of the PINK Revolution, UMass Breast Center and the former Hope Lodge, all organizations involved in the betterment of people afflicted with cancer. She had a kind heart, brilliant smile, and a “can-do” attitude with everything she was interested in.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. There are no calling hours.
