Michael Francis Clancy, 39 of Westborough formerly of Worcester passed away Friday, February 7th, 2020 after suffering a heart attack at home.
Michael was born in Worcester on June 29, 1980, the second son of Paul P. Clancy, Jr. and Patricia (Celularo) Clancy. Raised and educated in Worcester, Michael graduated from St John’s High School (1998) and Westfield State College (2003), where he met Sarah K. Blondin (2001). They married in 2011 in Killarney, Ireland and have been dedicated to each other while raising their family.
Mike went to The Esler Companies/Renewal by Andersen from the mortgage industry in 2008. In July of 2011, two months after their wedding, they moved to Colorado where he became the Sales Manager of the Denver office. In 2013, he was awarded the Outstanding Sales Leadership Award by the Renewal by Andersen Network and in 2014, Mike was promoted to General Manager of the Colorado Esler/Renewal by Andersen office growing Colorado to be the largest Renewal office in the United States.
In 2015 at just 34 years old, Mike was awarded the prestigious Crystal Achievement Award from Renewal by Andersen.
In 2017, Mike moved back to the Worcester area where he was promoted to Executive VP of Sales becoming part owner of the company with responsibility for four Esler/Renewal offices covering eight states. Being closer to his family and friends and his beloved Boston sports teams (every one of them!) Mike loved being home.
Just last month, Mike was awarded the prestigious Network Contributor of the Year 2019 Award from Renewal by Andersen in Cottage Grove, MN.
Michael was a hard-working family man who dedicated his life to his family, his company, his coworkers and friends. He had a larger than life personality, a captivating smile, a witty sense of humor, and a great welcoming hug.
As one of his friends described him: “Over the years I’ve realized that while I felt like a special person in his life, he had the uncanny ability to make many, many people feel that way. That is the kind of magic dust you don’t come across too often in life.” Even with his travel schedule and company responsibilities, Mike was a great family man. He was proud of his Irish/Italian heritage and in his younger years he traveled to Italy with his family and to Ireland twice with his aunt and brother.
He always carved out time to attend his children’s school events, sporting activities, and various club programs.
He relished giving birthday parties for them, one just for family, and another larger one with many friends and their families. He loved the holidays and always insisted hosting his family at his home since his return to Westborough. In the summer he enjoyed his downtime on the beaches in Marshfield and Yarmouth.
Mike was also a rabid sports enthusiast for all his Boston teams, regularly attending games, including the Super Bowl in Arizona, where Mike’s end zone seat witnessed the game winning interception. He also attended three Red Sox World Series championship season games. He had a passion for golf and when traveling to Denver or Arizona, he always carved out time for a round. He was currently a member of Hopkinton Country Club. One of his favorite golf memories was attending the 2019 final round of the Masters with his Dad where they witnessed Tiger Woods win.
Michael is survived by the family he cherished, his wife and love of his life Sarah and their two children, Colin John and Evelyn Belle; his parents, former Worcester City Councilor Paul P. Clancy, Jr. and Patricia (Celularo) of Worcester and Pompano Beach, FL; a brother, Mathew P. Clancy and his wife Darlene and their two sons Michael and Sean of St Johns, Florida; a sister, Laura M.
