Michael S Mastrogiovanni

Retired Firefighter Michael S. Mastrogiovanni, 66, of The Villages, FL, and formerly of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 6, 2019 of heart disease with his wife by his side. 

Michael was born in Worcester on August 28, 1953. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade in 1971. Michael then pursued a career with the Worcester Fire Department serving 23 years with various companies including Engine 2 and Ladder 1. Becoming a Firefighter was Michael’s lifelong passion. 

Michael leaves his wife Karen (Rainville) after sharing 38 years together. Also his Stepson Rob Finne (Lindsey) and Grandson Brayden Finne of Naples, FL. He also leaves three siblings, including, Donna (Paul Fox), as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family members, and parents. 

Michael was an avid fisherman, motorcyclist and golfer. He enjoyed the last 15 years in Florida golfing with Karen as his partner. He also loved playing pickleball with many groups. He was a HUGE New England sports fan. He will be remembered forever for his strong work ethic, generosity to always lend a hand to others and his endless sense of humor. 

Most of all, Michael cherished his time spent with Brayden, which was his pride and joy.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, December 13th from 4 pm to 7 pm in The Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation Street. His funeral will be celebrated Saturday, December 14th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massassoit Rd where his funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to St Jude’s Children Hospital, 1 St Jude Way, Memphis Tenn.
