Michael “Yamaha” M. McGourty, 49, a lifelong resident of Worcester passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
Michael was born in Worcester, one of two children of Robert F. McGourty and MaryIda (Ikey) Burke. Raised and educated in Worcester, Michael worked as a heavy equipment operator for various companies including Falcone Enterprises.
Michael is survived by his companion of 4 years, Saundra Levasseur; his mother, MaryIda (Ikey) Burke of Worcester; two sisters, Michelle A. Adams and her husband Craig of Spencer and Angela Foster; nieces, Lindsay and Chelsea Couch of Spencer; his father, Robert F. McGourty and his wife Linda; half-sisters, Robyn Vautour and her husband Bill of Templeton, Jessica Roy and her husband Jason of North Brookfield, Heidi Lamansky and her husband Myles of Charlton, extended family and many friends.
Michael enjoyed riding his Yamaha R1, skydiving, dancing, music and “playing in the sandbox”, as sister Michelle would refer to his passion for operating heavy equipment. He was a fun-loving individual, who was a joy to be around with a huge heart, contagious laugh, bright smile, and quick wit.
A period of calling hours will be held Saturday, December 18th from 1 pm to 3 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Casual attire is requested by the family
