Michael F. Pavone

December 7, 1951 — May 5, 2023

Michael F. Pavone, Sr., of West Boylston, passed peacefully on May 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. He leaves his devoted, loving wife, Sharon (DiPietro) Pavone, and best friend of 38 years who he raised a wonderful family with. Mike also leaves his son Mike, Jr., daughter Alisha Lambert and her husband, Mark, and Grandson, Leo, all of which he loved and cherished dearly.

Mike also leaves his brother Raymond and his companion, Jhonny Brown, his sister Catherine and her husband Gary Martins, sister-in-law Audra Pavone, his brother-in-laws Guido DiPietro and his wife Kathleen, Joseph DiPietro and his wife Paige, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and great friends who he could always count on in a moment’s notice. Mike was preceded by his father, Antonio and mother, Antoinette (Leo) Pavone, as well as a younger brother Paul, who he truly admired based on his ability to do anything and do it right, no matter how much they disagreed and argued on technique; he was always right.

Mike was born and grew up in Worcester before moving to West Boylston. He attended Worcester public schools graduating from North High School Class of 1970, truly a special group. Mike later continued his education at Westfield State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England University.

Mike was a career law enforcement officer of 38 years in the Commonwealth beginning in 1973. He served with several agencies before retiring from the Massachusetts State Police as a Detective Lieutenant in 2011. Mike’s law enforcement career was diverse, serving in the patrol field, special operations, training division, environmental enforcement, commanding personnel as a commissioned officer, and an extended assignment in the Department’s Division of Standards and Training. After retirement, Mike owned and operated Integrity Investigations & Consulting. He assisted many area law enforcement agencies in training, policy development, and investigative initiatives, specializing in professionalism and maintaining Integrity within.

Mike was a proud member of the Mass. Police Association, Mass. Chiefs of Police Association, Central Mass. Chiefs of Police Association and the Licensed Private Detective Association of Mass. He was a member of the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association for many years serving on the Executive Board, and was bestowed the distinction of “Honorary Member” in 2012.

Mike spent many days assisting with youth sports in West Boylston, coaching and facilitating administrative duties of the town’s minor league baseball and Pop Warner Football programs. Mike enjoyed automotive repair, owned several cars he refurbished and maintained, and was a stickler for preventive maintenance. He never missed a scheduled oil change. Mike enjoyed the Patriots, particularly yelling at the TV during many games as an armchair quarterback with his son Mike, who he was very proud of for following in his footsteps as a law enforcement officer. Some of Mike’s fondest memories were the special day trips with his daughter, Alisha, the annual Sterling Fair, Water Country, and Yankee Candle come to mind, and those Chinese Buffets along the way. Her son, Leo, was a constant bright spot in his life.

Mike would like to thank the many dedicated medical personnel who assisted him over the years, especially those at Saint Vincent’s Oncology & Wellness Center and the Dana Farber Cancer Center, where he received outstanding care.

Mike’s funeral will be handled by MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., on May 19, 2023. There will be no calling hours, but a procession will form at Mercadante Funeral Home at 10:00 am. The procession route will travel by a few places Mike worked in during his law enforcement career. A celebration of his life will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, 1 Church Street, West Boylston, at 11:00.

In Lieu of flowers, a donation may be made at Mike’s request in care of the Mass. Chiefs of Police Association’s Annual Jimmy Fund Walk, 353 Providence Road, South Grafton, MA 01560
