Nada (Raheb) Hanna, 63 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at UMass Medical Center with her loving family by her side after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Nada was born in Hassake, Syria, a daughter of the late Georges and Janette (Abdulky) Raheb. She worked as a self-employed hairdresser and after starting her family she stayed home to raise her children. Nada was a member of St. Matthew Syriac Orthodox Church in Boston. She loved to host family gatherings, entertain in her home, and cook especially traditional Syrian food.
Nada is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Fawaz “Fred” Hanna; two daughters, Nicole Celik and her husband Andre of New Jersey and Michelle Hanna of Worcester; two brothers, Niam Raheb and his wife Rina and Nedal Raheb and his wife Baha; two sisters, Nelly Bahnan and her husband Alfred and Nibal Raheb and her husband Elie Boutros all of Worcester; two grandchildren, Adrianna and Lilyana Celik; a sister-in-law, Sara Hanna; six brothers-in-law, Hanna, Ghassan, Jamal, Hekmat, Isaac and Samer Hanna. She is predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Antoun “Tony” and Sabri Hanna.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 5-8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 22nd at 11:00 am in St. Mary’s Syriac Orthodox Church, I Industrial Dr., Shrewsbury. Her burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
