Nancy M. (Clark) Magaw, 85 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019 with her daughter Sandra “Sam” Magaw, her grandson Nick and Brittany by her side.
Nancy was born in Burlington, Vermont, the daughter of the late Harry H. and Constance (Fortin) Clark. At a young age, her family moved her to Worcester, where she has lived most of her life. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her earlier years, in order to honor her wishes to be a stay at home Mom, Nancy also worked part-time managing the store at St. Vincent de Paul.
Nancy shared a love and passion for motorcycles with her husband of 50 years, Gerald R. Magaw who passed away in 2008. Living in the moment, always ready for good time, they were known in 1957 for their infamous bike trip, to Daytona Beach. Leaving Worcester in the middle of a frosty February they made the front-page news.
Later on in life, Nancy loved to spend Sunday’s shopping with her “Sam”. Up until it’s closing, Spag’s was one of her favorite spots to search for that special little trinket or bargain to purchase, usually for someone else.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ann Magaw and her fiancé Raymond Sherwin of North Oxford; her son, Steven Spaulding and his wife Ann of Skowhegan, ME; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by “Her Girls” who were just like her daughters; Wendy Farrand of Limerick, ME, Sharon Lawson of Charlton, and Patty Derosier of Worcester. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Timothy J. Magaw who passed in 2007; two brothers, Howard Clark and James Colcord; a sister, Dolores Lavoie.
Nancy’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to those who cared for her in her time of need. First and foremost, for her adopted nephew Dr. Merrill Farrand, who made his knowledge comfort and care available 24/7. Her long-time devoted friend, and caregiver Lynn Morgan, whose “gab” sessions always lifted her spirits. To her primary care physician Dr. Milman, and his staff. Also, Salmon Hospice, especially Megan Dumais for her outstanding care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Nancy’s life on Saturday, June 29th at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Calling hours from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. with her funeral service to follow immediately, with a procession to Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton for her burial.
