Nelson Castro

Nelson Castro went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, July 2, 2022, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center.  He was predeceased by his parents Juan and Eneida Castro.  Nelson was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorable discharged in 1976.  He resided in Worcester since 1996 and was a social worker for UMASS for over 10 years, retiring in 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra T. Castro ; four sons, Jesse, Donte, Nelson and Christian; three daughters, Andrea, Ciji and Nadia; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  He will also be remembered by numerous cousins, as well as many friends.

For hobbies, Nelson enjoyed fishing, going to the Ocean, listening to old school Jazz and salsa and watching the History channel.  He loved seeking out great restaurants and fine food.

A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm  with his Celebration of Life Service to begin immediately at 12:00 pm in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be at a later date.
