Nicolette B. “Betty” (Ciampaglia) Castellani, 102 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024 at The Overlook in Charlton surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Orazio and Rosina (Troiano) Ciampaglia where she grew up and graduated from Commerce High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Memorial Hospital for 25 years in various departments including the medical surgery unit, operating department and retiring from the emergency department. Prior to that, Betty worked as a corsetier at Barnard’s Department Store.
Betty was a member of the American Legion, Post 201 Women’s Auxiliary as a president and treasurer. She was also a member of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Golden Years Club, Circle of Friends as well as a Eucharistic Minister. Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making wool braided rugs, bingo, cards, bowling and spending time with her family.
Betty’s husband, Joseph A. Castellani, Sr. passed away on October 15, 1975. She is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Castellani, Jr. and his wife Bonita of Florida and Jeffrey Castellani and his wife Maureen of Southbridge; a daughter, Lisa Fogaren and her husband David of Tewksbury; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by four sisters, Mary Brown, Margaret Stanzione, Natalie Longone and Minnie Bisceglia.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 9-10 am with her funeral service immediately following at 10:00 am in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
