Norman L. Chagnon, Jr., 65 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Norman was born in Worcester; a son of the late Norman L. and Eleanora Anna (Ducimo) Chagnon, Sr. He graduated from North High School and later received a bachelor’s degree in history from Worcester State College. Norman became a firefighter for the City of Worcester Fire Department in 1977 serving his community for 31 years on Engine 10, Ladder 7 and Arial Scope 3 before he retired in January of 2007. He organized Worcester Fire Department retiree get-togethers and functions, loved freshwater fishing, was a history buff and enjoyed reading. Norman loved vacationing to Wells, Maine annually with his family, traveling worldwide with his wife before he became ill but most of all spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Norman is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anne E. (Boule) Chagnon; his son, FF Nathan L. Chagnon, Sr.; his daughter, Danielle Chagnon-Hall and her wife Sarah Hall; his sister, Lorraine Anthony and her husband Michael; his brother-in-law, Rick Boule and longtime companion, Catherine Meyer all of Worcester; his sister-in-law, Suzanne Bussolari and her husband Robert of Boylston; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Chagnon and Nathan L. Chagnon, Jr. both of Millbury, Tyler and Dylan DiPietro both of Oxford; many nieces and nephews.
A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with his funeral service to begin immediately at 7:00 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME &C HAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
