Oscar Alexander Lopez, 42, of Worcester, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 25, 2023.
Oscar was born in San Miguel, El Salvador, on July 12, 1980. He graduated from Worcester Schools, later received his EMT certification, and worked in Worcester, MA, for many years. As a medic, Oscar served his country with honor and dignity for the United States Navy in the War on Afghanistan. During his dedicated service, Oscar was mobilized in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, where he was the proud recipient of the Armed Forces Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the Navy Reserve Meritorious Service Medal.
Oscar is survived by his mother and stepfather, Candida Reyes, and Jose Gomez; his brother, Julio Lopez, and his wife Wendoly Rivera; nieces and nephews, Bianca Lopez, Carlos Robles, Kassandra Robles, Emma and Noah Lopez. He is predeceased by his father, Miguel Angel Lopez.
Family and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Wednesday, July 12th, from 09:00 am – 11:00 am at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605. His funeral service immediately following at 1:00 pm Burial with military funeral honors will follow in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA 01475. All are welcome to attend.
